The ICD-10 2019 Data File download contains a complete list of official, valid diagnostic and procedure codes effective October 1, 2018 — all the information needed for efficient and effective coding.

For the medical practice seeking peak effectiveness, the ICD-10 2019 Data File provides essential ICD-10 code set information. Included is the complete set of the official, valid codes and code descriptions.

The official ICD-10-CM (diagnostic) and ICD-10-PCS (procedural) code set descriptors are provided in their own separate files in the following four file formats:

  • Tab-delimited (TXT)
  • Fixed-field (TXT)
  • Extensible markup language (XML)
  • Microsoft® Excel (XLS)

All descriptors are provided in the following three lengths:

  • 48-character short descriptors developed by the American Medical Association
  • 60-character medium descriptors developed by CMS
  • Unlimited-character long descriptors developed by CMS

The data provided in the code descriptor files also features the following information:

  • Indication of the validity of an ICD-10 code for submission in HIPAA transactions as provided by CMS
  • Hierarchical relationships that represent the relationships between headings, subheadings, and codes that facilitate presentation of codes, user interface, and aggregation of data for reporting purposes

This download also includes the General Equivalence Mappings (GEMs) of ICD-9 to ICD-10 codes.
